Telangana HC Quashes Two FIRs Against KTR
The court also quashed another FIR filed against Rama Rao at the Utnoor police station in the Khanapur Assembly constituency.
Hyderabad: In a relief to BRS working president K.T. Rama Rao, the Telangana High Court on Monday quashed the FIR filed against him at the Mahadevapura police station of Bhupalpally district for flying a drone camera over the Medigadda barrage on July 26, 2024, without permission.
Based on a complaint of the assistant executive engineer at the Lakshmi barrage at Medigadda, the police registered the case.
The court found that the Medigadda barrage was not notified as a prohibited area and faulted the invoking of sections-3 and 7 of the Official Secrets Act and Section 10A of the Aircraft Act. The court pointed out that Section 10A of the Aircraft Act dealt with adjudication of penalties and the power lay with the Centre. The court also expressed doubts over the delay of almost three and a half days in lodging the complaint.
The court also quashed another FIR filed against Rama Rao at the Utnoor police station in the Khanapur Assembly constituency. The FIR had been registered in September 2024 based on a complaint filed by Congress leader Aatram Suguna, stating that Rama Rao tried to tarnish the image of Congress during a public meeting where he accused the government of being involved in a Rs 25,000 crore scam under the guise of the Musi river rejuvenation initiative.
