HC Gives Relief to Suspended Trainee IPS
Suspended trainee officer had approached the High Court seeking setting aside of the lower court's order and rejection of the investigating officer’s request to subject him to a potency test.
Hyderabad: In a relief to suspended trainee IPS officer M. Uday Krishna Reddy, the Telangana High Court has set aside an order of a lower court, permitting the investigating officer to subject him to a potency test in connection with a sexual assault case involving a co-trainee woman IPS officer.
Justice J. Srinivas Rao allowed the criminal petition filed by Uday Krishna Reddy and set aside the order dated August 17, 2026, passed by the III Additional Junior Civil Judge-cum-XXV Additional Judicial Magistrate of First Class, Ranga Reddy district, Rajendranagar, which had permitted the investigating officer to subject Uday Krishna to a potency examination under Section 52 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita.

While allowing his plea, the High Court made it clear that its order would not prevent the prosecution from approaching the court with an appropriate petition in accordance with law, if the need arose at a later stage.
