HC Asks Cops to Consider Plea for Peace Rally by Lashkar District Sadhana Samithi

Earlier, the organisers had sought police permission for a peace rally from Secunderabad Railway Station to the Mahatma Gandhi statue on MG Road on January 17, but the police denied permission at the last minute.

Hyderabad:The Telangana High Court has directed the police department to consider an application seeking permission to organise a peace rally proposed by the Lashkar District Sadhana Samithi on February 7, in support of the formation of the Secunderabad Municipal Corporation.

Earlier, the organisers had sought police permission for a peace rally from Secunderabad Railway Station to the Mahatma Gandhi statue on MG Road on January 17, but the police denied permission at the last minute.

Following this, Gurram Pawan Kumar Goud, president of the Lashkar District Sadhana Samithi, submitted a fresh application on January 21 to the City Police Commissioner and the Malkajgiri Deputy Commissioner of Police, seeking permission to hold a rally from Secunderabad Railway Station to the Paradise Gandhi statue. As there was no response from the police authorities, the petitioner approached the High Court, which has now directed the police to consider the request in accordance with law.
