Harish Warns Against Any Plans To 'Abolish' Siddipet District
There were rumours that Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy was planning to abolish Siddipet district: MLA T. Harish Rao
HYDERABAD: Senior BRS leader and Siddipet MLA T. Harish Rao on Friday warned the state government against ‘abolition’ of Siddipet district, and that a movement will be launched to protect Siddipet’s district status.
Speaking at a meeting in Siddipet after BJP town president Pathri Srinivas and senior leader Hanumanth Rao, along with their followers joined the party, Harish Rao said there were rumours that Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy was planning to abolish Siddipet district.
Harish Rao said “I challenge Revanth Reddy. If he has any grudge against me, he should target me directly, but not punish the people of Siddipet. We will not stay silent, we will launch another agitation if our district's existence is threatened.”
He said it was only after the BRS came to power and Siddipet district was formed that widespread development came to the town and the rest of the district.
“We replaced open drains with underground drainage and ensured tap water reached every household. With community halls, proper waste management, and streetlights, Siddipet has become a model for the entire state. It has emerged as an educational and medical hub with colleges and hospitals, and a spiritual center with our temples,” he said.
“But there are apparently plans to merge Siddipet district into Sangareddy citing an excess of districts in the state. And we will not allow this to happen,” he said.
