Hyderabad: Former irrigation minister and senior BRS leader T. Harish Rao on Thursday strongly condemned Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy “for letting loose a flood of lies.”
Reacting to the Chief Minister’s comments on irrigation issues at the meeting in Praja Bhavan earlier in the day, Harish Rao said “if there were to be an Oscar for lying, Revanth Reddy will be the unanimous international choice.”
Taking strong objection to Revanth Reddy “comparing BRS president and former chief minister K. Chandrashekar Rao to terrorist Ajmal Kasab,” Harish Rao said, “on the one hand, you claim you will maintain decorum in the Assembly, and on the other, you compare the man who achieved Telangana statehood to a terrorist. KCR united four crore people and risked his life to achieve this state. Comparing him to Kasab shows your lack of culture and basic courtesies.”
“The Chief Minister acts like a wolf in sheep's clothing, pretending to be respectful while using abusive and uncivilised language,” Harish Rao said.
Harish Rao termed as a blatant lie, Revanth Reddy’s contention that Chandrashekar Rao had agreed to 299 tmc ft of Krishna water for the state. “Within 42 days of the state’s formation, KCR wrote to the Centre demanding a reallocation of the total 811 tmc ft. KCR demanded a 69 per cent share for Telangana in the 811 tmc ft of Krishna water. We wrote 28 letters asking for a 50:50 ratio until the Brijesh Tribunal gave its final award. We questioned the Centre in two Apex Council meetings. The minutes of these meetings are available, Revanth Reddy should read them properly,” Harish Rao said.
“The CM's statement that all water flows only to Jurala and not Srisailam shows he does not know that the Tungabhadra river exists. Does he not know that 450 to 600 tmc ft of water reach Srisailam through the Tungabhadra every year,” Harish Rao asked
It was the Congress that instigated cases in the National Green Tribunal (NGT) against the Palamuru-Rangareddy lift irrigation scheme (PRLIS). “Despite hurdles, the BRS government secured seven permissions for the project. In your two years of rule, you haven't secured a single permission and instead caused the DPR to be sent back. This is your competence,” Harish Rao said.
