Harish Says BRS Govt Will Probe SCCL Sponsorship of Messi Football Event
Harish Rao said SCCL was also facing a severe financial crunch with the power utilities including TG Genco and the Discoms not paying their dues.
Hyderabad: Senior BRS leader T. Harish Rao on Saturday said once the BRS returns to power, its government will order an investigation into Singareni Collieries Company Limited spending Rs 110 crore for a football match between Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy and soccer legend Lionel Messi in Hyderabad that was held earlier this month.
Harish Rao, speaking with reporters after submitting a memorandum to SCCL director P. Gautam urging the company to attend to various problems faced by Singareni workers, said SCCL was becoming financially weak, and this could pave the way for the state government to push the company towards privatisation.
Harish Rao said SCCL was also facing a severe financial crunch with the power utilities including TG Genco and the Discoms not paying their dues. The government must clear the dues totalling more than Rs 42,000 crore, he said, adding that this has pushed the coal mining major into severe financial hardship.
“While the company is facing such a situation, the government forced it to spend Rs 110 crore for a football match. Once the BRS is back in power, this will be probed and severe action will be taken against those who indulged in this profligacy,” he said.
