Harish: Revanth Compromised on Telangana’s Water Rights
Harish Rao slams Revanth for flip-flops on Banakacharla project, Delhi meet, and river water issues
Hyderabad: Former minister T. Harish Rao launched a scathing attack on Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy on Wednesday, accusing him of compromising Telangana’s interests and misleading the public. Speaking at a press conference at Telangana Bhavan, Harish Rao questioned Revanth’s commitment to the state, citing a series of flip-flops and contradictory actions.
He criticised Revanth Reddy for holding his Delhi press meet at the luxurious Leela Palace Hotel, calling it hypocritical, especially after avoiding a face-off with K.T. Rama Rao. Harish Rao pointed out that Revanth Reddy, who earlier claimed he would boycott a Delhi meeting if Andhra Pradesh’s Banakacharla project was discussed, rushed to attend it late at night. “What secret understanding was reached in Delhi?” he asked.
Harish Rao alleged that while Revanth Reddy claimed Banakacharla wasn’t discussed, it was the very first agenda item. “AP Minister Nimmala Ramanaidu confirmed it, but Revanth denied it. Is this honesty from a CM?” he questioned. He accused Revanth of paying political ‘guru dakshina’ to TDP chief Chandrababu Naidu at Telangana’s expense.
He said statutory bodies like the Central Water Commission, Godavari River Management Board and the Polavaram Authority had earlier rejected Banakacharla’s feasibility. “Then why did Revanth Reddy agree to a committee on it? This is a betrayal,” Harish Rao thundered.
Harish Rao alleged that the Congress was functioning under the remote control of the BJP and TD, and that Revanth Reddy had even appointed anti-Telangana individuals to key advisory roles. “Instead of confronting Naidu, Revanth Reddy is targeting KCR. Is the fight against the one who created Telangana, or the one who continues to harm it,” he asked.
He condemned the move to shift the KRMB office to Vijayawada and Revanth Reddy’s handling of river water issues. “Only KCR’s firm stand reversed these dangerous decisions,” Harish Rao said, vowing that BRS would resist any injustice to Telangana.
