Hyderabad: The Hare Krishna Movement in Hyderabad has welcomed the Supreme Court verdict that recognized Iskcon-Bengaluru as the rightful owner of the famous Hare Krishna Hill temple in the Karnataka capital. In a press release issued on Friday, the organisation said the judgment brought relief to thousands of devotees who had stood by the teachings of Iskcon founder Acharya Srila Prabhupada.

The Hare Krishna Movement Hyderabad, which is officially managed by Iskcon-Bengaluru, said the verdict ended a 25-year struggle to uphold Srila Prabhupada as the sole Acharya of the International Society of Krishna Consciousness (Iskcon). “With this verdict, thousands of devotees worldwide can peacefully accept Srila Prabhupada as the Acharya in Iskcon and practice their faith, without fear of persecution,” the press release stated.

The dispute began after Srila Prabhupada attained nirvana and some Iskcon leaders claimed to be his successors.
