Hailstorm Hits Telangana Districts, Thunderstorm Warnings Issued

IMD issues weather warning to several districts of Telangana through May 11

Hyderabad: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued weather warnings following reports of hailstorms in Kamareddy, Kumaram Bheem Asifabad, and Medak districts of Telangana.

A north-south trough, extending from southeast Madhya Pradesh to South Karnataka across Telangana, is currently influencing weather patterns in the region.
The IMD has forecast light to moderate rain and thunderstorms across various districts of Telangana through May 11.

Weather warning for next 7 days

Orange Alert (May 5–7):
Intense weather expected with thunderstorms, lightning, gusty winds (40–50 kmph) and hailstorm risk. Affected districts include:

May 5: Adilabad, Komaram Bheem Asifabad, Mancherial, Nirmal, Nizamabad, Bhadradri Kothagudem, Warangal, Hanamkonda, Sangareddy, Medak, and Kamareddy.

May 6–7: Bhadradri Kothagudem, Khammam, Nalgonda, Suryapet, Mahabubabad, Warangal, Hanamkonda, Jangaon, and Siddipet.

Yellow Alert (May 5–9):
Thunderstorms with gusty winds (30–40 kmph) are forecast for districts include: Hyderabad, Rangareddy, Medchal-Malkajgiri, Karimnagar, Peddapalli, Jayashankar Bhupalapally, Mulugu, Nagarkurnool, Wanaparthy, and Narayanpet.

No weather warnings have been issued for May 10 and 11.

Over the next 48 hours, Hyderabad is expected to see partly cloudy skies with light to moderate rain or thunderstorms during evening or night hours. Gusty winds of 30–40 kmph are also anticipated.

Temperature is forecast to hover around 36°C (max) and 25–26°C (min).

Advisory to Farmers and Residents:

Farmers are advised to take necessary precautions to safeguard crops from hail damage and waterlogging. Residents in affected districts should stay indoors during thunderstorms and secure loose outdoor objects.

The IMD continues to monitor weather conditions closely and will issue further updates as necessary.
