Guvvala Balraju Ends Two-Decade Association With BRS, Likely to Join BJP Soon
Nagarkurnool political scene heats up as BRS faces multiple resignations ahead of polls
Hyderabad: Former MLA and BRS Nagarkurnool district president Guvvala Balraju has resigned from the BRS, delivering a major setback to the party ahead of the local body elections. Speculation is rife that he is poised to join the BJP.
Balraju, who is said to be close to BRS working president K.T. Rama Rao, has submitted his resignation letter directly to party chief K. Chandrasekhar Rao.
In his resignation letter, Balraju did not level any accusations or express grievances against the party leadership. Instead, he recalled his two-decade-long association with the BRS and stated that his departure is devoid of bitterness or complaints.
This departure is expected to trigger a domino effect within the political landscape. Reports suggest that other former BRS MLAs from the erstwhile Mahbubnagar district, including Alampur’s Abraham and Kalwakurthy’s Jaipal Yadav, are also likely to leave the party and join the BJP.
These leaders, with their substantial local influence and political experience, have been key figures within the BRS, and their potential exit highlights shifting allegiances ahead of the upcoming local body elections.
Though reports of Nagarkurnool’s former MLA Marri Janardhan Reddy also quitting the BRS did the rounds, he dismissed them in a statement issued late at night. He announced that he would continue in the BRS till his last breath.
The political dynamics in the state, and Mahbubnagar district in particular, are likely to shift with these latest developments. For the BRS, these departures represent a critical challenge, as the party continues to face one setback after another following the Assembly elections.
