Gruha Jyothi Scheme Lights Up 52.82 Lakh Homes. Govt Paid Rs 3,593 Crore Bill, Bhatti Informs Council
Replying to a question by MLC Vijayashanti, Bhatti said the scheme had benefited 25.35 lakh families in the southern discom area and 27.47 lakh under the northern discom.
HYDERABAD: Deputy Chief Minister Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka announced in the Council that the flagship Gruha Jyothi scheme — providing 200 units of free power to poor families — has reached 52.82 lakh beneficiaries, and the government was paying Rs 3,593.17 crore electricity bills on their behalf.
Replying to a question by MLC Vijayashanti, Bhatti said the scheme had benefited 25.35 lakh families in the southern discom area and 27.47 lakh under the northern discom.
"This scheme has transformed lives," Bhatti said. With the government paying for their power, the Gruha Jyothi scheme “has helped families progress socially, health-wise, and economically, and has also enabled them to provide better education for their children,” he said.
