Kamareddy: The last rites of Greyhounds police constable Vadla Sridhar, who lost his life in a landmine blast triggered by Maoists during the Karregutta operation, were performed with full state honours in his native Palvancha village of Machareddy mandal on Friday. Advisor to the state government Mohammad Ali Shabbir, transport minister Ponnam Prabhakar, Zaheerabad MP Suresh Kumar Shetkar, Yellareddy MLA Madanmohan Rao, district officials and villagers participated in the funeral. Sridhar’s family members and fellow residents of the village gathered in large numbers to bid farewell to the slain constable.

Shabbir Ali also appealed to Maoists to abandon violence and join the path of peaceful dialogue. Elected representatives and senior officials, including district collector Ashish Sangvan, superintendent of police M. Rajesh Chandra and Greyhounds commander Raghavender Reddy, paid floral tributes to the mortal remains of Sridhar.
