Green Day: Minister Leads Plantation Drive at Park
Minister joins green initiative at Krishnakanth Park under Praja Palana programme.
Hyderabad: World Environment Day was observed by various institutions and government departments on Friday.
On the occasion, transport minister Ponnam Prabhakar participated in a sapling plantation programme at Krishnakanth Park, Yousufguda, organised under Praja Palana — Pragathi Pranalika. Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation commissioner R.V. Karnan, Hyderabad district collector Priyanka Ala and other officials were present.
The Institute of Town Planners India (ITPI), Telangana regional chapter, organised World Environment Day at ITPI, Begumpet, Hyderabad, under the theme Inspired by Nature. For Climate. For Our Future.
At the event, S. Devendar Reddy, chairman, ITPI Telangana regional chapter and director, DTCP, in his address emphasised the critical role of planners in promoting environmentally sustainable and climate‑resilient urban development.
Ashok Reddy, managing director, Hyderabad Metropolitan Water Supply and Sewerage Board (HMWS&SB), graced the occasion as chief guest and underscored the importance of integrating environmental sustainability into urban planning and governance.
World Environment Day was also celebrated by Cyberabad Municipal Corporation and Malkajgiri Municipal Corporation.
