Hyderabad: BRS general secretary and former IPS officer R.S. Praveen Kumar on Thursday alleged that Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy was having the phones of his ministerial colleagues tapped.
Addressing a press conference, he said the government was trying to drag the names of senior BRS leaders K.T. Rama Rao and T. Harish Rao into the phone tapping case with a plan to send them to prison in order to undermine the party’s efforts to hold the government accountable for its failures.
He said former head of the Special Intelligence Bureau T. Prabhakar Rao, who was made accused No. 1 in the case, was being pressurised by the Special Investigation Team to name Rama Rao and Harish Rao as those involved in ordering tapping of phones. “The system of surveillance is age old and laws on tapping phones have existed for long. Is Revanth Reddy not tapping phones of his cabinet colleagues?” he said.
