Govt Spent Over Rs. 1 Lakh Crore On Farmers’ Welfare: Gangadhar
The extensive spending and welfare initiatives were the reason farmers across Telangana were celebrating the day with enthusiasm: Telangana state agriculture and farmers’ commission member Gadugu Gangadhar
NIZAMABAD: Telangana state agriculture and farmers’ commission member Gadugu Gangadhar said the state government had spent more than ₹1 lakh crore over the past two years on farmer welfare, implementing several schemes aimed at supporting the agricultural community.
Addressing a gathering on the occasion of Farmers’ Day, Gangadhar said the extensive spending and welfare initiatives were the reason farmers across Telangana were celebrating the day with enthusiasm.
He said the government had implemented a range of schemes, including farm loan waivers, Rythu Bharosa, Rythu Bima and bonuses for fine rice varieties. He added that Telangana had also set up an Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare Commission exclusively for farmer welfare, a move he described as unique in the country.
Gangadhar said the Commission had been proactively visiting villages and working to resolve farmers’ issues. From land-related disputes to market-linked challenges, the Commission has been regularly advising the government on measures required to address farmers’ concerns, he said.
As a result of these recommendations, the government had taken several key decisions benefiting farmers. He added that the Farmers’ Commission would continue its efforts in the coming days to safeguard and promote farmers’ welfare.
