Warangal: Governor Jishnu Dev Varma inspected the Saraswathi Pushkaralu arrangements at Kaleshwaram in Jayashankar Bhupalpally district on Sunday.
Varma along with his family had Pushkara Snanam (holy dip) in the sacred Triveni Sangam at the Saraswati Ghat and offered prayers to the goddess Saraswati Devi.
The events are taking place on a grand note for the last 11 days with elaborate arrangements from the state government and the district administration, so as to ensure that the devotees do not face any inconvenience.
The governor was given a warm welcome by IT minister Duddilla Sridhar Babu, district collector Rahul Sharma and SP Kiran Khare.
Later, on a visit to Kaleshwaram, the temple priests welcomed the governor with Purna Kumbam and Mangala Vaidyam amid Vedic chants. Varma and his wife offered special prayers to the presiding deity Sri Mukteshwara Swamy.
The temple authorities presented the governor couple with silk clothes, laddu prasadam and sweet Pongal along with a memento of goddess Saraswati Devi.
The IT minister explained to the governor about the Saraswati Navratna Mala Aarti programme, which is held every evening on a grand note by priests from Kashi. Varma appreciated the arrangements for the Pushkaralu.
From the early morning, thousands of devotees thronged Kaleshwaram in cars, buses and private vehicles. Devotees faced problems due to the traffic jam through 6 to 7km enroute to Kaleshwaram from Muddulapally and also for 2 to 3km on the inter-state bridge from Sironcha of Maharashtra to Kaleshwaram in Telangana.
Devotees also faced difficulties due to the heavy rain in the past two days and the resultant mud accumulation on the roads, making vehicular movement difficult. The police cleared the traffic from time to time.
