Hyderabad: Govenor Shiv Pratap Shukla said Telangana was emerging as a model of inclusive, equitable and sustainable development. Addressing the Telangana Formation Day celebrations organised at Lok Bhavan on Tuesday as part of the Ek Bharat, Shreshtha Bharat initiative, the Governor said that “Jai Telangana” was not merely a slogan but a symbol of the movement for self-respect, unity and identity.

The spirit of that movement, he observed, continues to resonate in the hearts of the people of Telangana. The Governor paid tributes to the martyrs whose sacrifices, courage and aspirations made the dream of a separate Telangana a reality.

He said Telangana had preserved its rich civilisational heritage while rapidly advancing towards modern development. Today, the state stood as a symbol of inclusive growth, social justice and cultural resurgence, he remarked.

Referring to the ideals of Dr B.R. Ambedkar, the Governor said Telangana had accorded priority to social equality and the empowerment of marginalised sections. He expressed hope that efforts would continue to ensure that the benefits of development reach every section of society.

Describing Hyderabad as a unique confluence of tradition and modernity, the Governor said the city reflects India’s diversity, where people belonging to different regions, languages and faiths live together in harmony. A vibrant cultural parade featuring Oggu Dolu, Bonalu, Gussadi, Kolatam, Dappu and Banjara folk artistes highlighted Telangana’s rich cultural heritage.
