WARANGAL: The state government is committed to improving education quality and student welfare in government schools. To this end, SC, ST, and minority welfare minister Adluri Laxman Kumar announced that steel cooking and serving utensils will be provided to all social-welfare residential schools across the state.

On Monday, minister Laxman Kumar, Residential Schools Society secretary Alugu Varshini, and district collector Pamela Satpathy inaugurated the initiative at the Social Welfare Residential School for Girls in Alugunur mandal, Karimnagar district, by presenting the new steel vessels.
Speaking at the event, minister Laxman Kumar explained that storing food in aluminum vessels can pose health risks. Consequently, the government will roll out steel utensils in all 700 residential schools, starting with Alugunur, with dedicated funds allocated to each school for procurement.
The goal is to protect students’ health, ensure access to nutritious meals, and bring government schools’ facilities on par with private and corporate institutions.
Minister Laxman Kumar also praised the Alugunur students for securing seats in prestigious institutions nationwide and instructed secretary Varshini and collector Satpathy to fill all vacant teaching posts immediately.
Alugu Varshini assured that the switch to steel utensils would be completed within three months and encouraged students to use the new “Phone Mitra” service to report any issues directly to education authorities.
Collector Satpathy applauded the students’ outstanding performances and urged them to continue their hard work. She also recommended the “Vidhya Vahini” YouTube channel, run by the district administration, for additional learning resources.
