₹300-crore project in Khammam to generate 700 jobs; company seeks additional land, road expansion

Hyderabad: Representatives of Godrej Agrovet met Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy to discuss expansion of oil palm cultivation and the establishment of a private integrated oil palm complex in Telangana.

During the meeting held at the MCR HRD Institute, the company submitted a report on plans to expand oil palm cultivation in the state. Corporate Affairs President Rakesh Swamy and Oil Palm Business CEO Sougata Niyogi briefed the Chief Minister on the project.

The representatives said a ₹300-crore project is being set up in Khammam district, which is expected to generate employment for over 700 people. The government has already allocated 113.5 acres of land at Gubbagurthi village in Konijerla mandal for setting up an oil palm processing unit, nursery, research and development centre, and seed garden.

The company has requested an additional 35–40 acres for expansion of the seed garden and sought road widening for the processing unit. Responding positively, the Chief Minister directed officials to take up road expansion works under the Telangana Industrial Infrastructure Corporation (TGIIC).
