HYDERABAD: The Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) is involving young professionals in its sanitation efforts through the “Swachh TULIP” internship programme, launched under the Swachh Bharat Mission Urban (SBM-U) 2.0.

Eight interns were selected through the AICTE portal and trained in solid waste management and sanitation practices. Their training included field visits to the Fathullaguda construction & demolition (C&D) waste plant and the Jawaharnagar Municipal Solid Waste (MSW) Facility, providing them with
practical insights into GHMC’s operations.

As part of their internship, the participants contributed to information, education, and communication (IEC) campaigns focused on source segregation, the plastic ban, and improving community hygiene. Each intern also submitted a project report with actionable suggestions to enhance waste management systems in the city.

The programme concluded with a felicitation ceremony at the GHMC head office, where officials acknowledged the interns’ efforts. GHMC aims to continue engaging youth in its mission to build a cleaner and healthier Hyderabad.
