Hyderabad: The Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) restored Padma Shri awardee Darshanam Mogilaiah’s mural on a flyover pillar near the LB Nagar Police Station.

“Action is being initiated against the responsible officials of the LB Nagar Zone Advertisement Wing for the lapse,” a GHMC official said.

Mogulaiah, a renowned folk musician, was disheartened to find posters and stains defacing his mural. He began cleaning it himself, and several passersby joined in.

GHMC staffers removed the posters, cleaned the stains, and undertook repainting to restore the artwork to its original form and dignity.

“We are also trying to track those who pasted the posters on the mural. The posters have now been removed,” a GHMC official added.

Speaking to Deccan Chronicle on Wednesday, Mogilaiah said he was deeply hurt to see posters pasted over the artwork.
