GHMC Removes Extra 1,458 MT Waste, 547 MT Debris
Currently in GHMC jurisdiction covering 2,053 square kilometres, around 9,000 metric tonnes of waste is being generated every day.
Hyderabad:As part of the ongoing special sanitation drive, additional 1,458 metric tonnes of waste and 547 metric tonnes of construction debris were cleared till Saturday in the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) jurisdiction. The drive started on December 29, 2025 and will continue till January 31, 2026.
Currently in GHMC jurisdiction covering 2,053 square kilometres, around 9,000 metric tonnes of waste is being generated every day. The 1,458 metric tonnes of waste and 547 metric tonnes of construction debris are addition to this.
The drive, which began with the cleaning of foot overbridges (FoBs), was carried out over the past six days across flyovers, roadsides, dividers, central medians, kerb stones, lakes, nalas, footpaths, and parks. Besides, construction and demolition (C&D) waste was also removed.
Across the GHMC limits covering 300 wards, special sanitation works were undertaken at 1,204 identified areas and points, including garbage vulnerable points and parks. In the special drive, GHMC staffers with the help of traffic police also removed old cars kept by the roadsides for a long time.
