GHMC Presents Rs.11,460-crore Budget for 2026–27
Karnan said the assets and liabilities of the merged municipalities were assessed, and property tax assessment and collection had been made fully end-to-end online.
Hyderabad: GHMC commissioner R.V. Karnan said preparing the 2026-27 Budget for the corporation was more challenging compared to the previous year due to the merger of 27 municipalities. He was speaking at a special council meeting for the presentation of the ₹11,460-crore budget for 2026-27.
The Budget, was prepared keeping public needs and developmental priorities in view, he said. Karnan said the assets and liabilities of the merged municipalities were assessed, and property tax assessment and collection had been made fully end-to-end online. The same system would be extended to the newly merged municipalities.
Key initiatives undertaken during the tenure of the outgoing GHMC council included solid waste management, road development, junction improvement works, digitisation of civic services and the implementation of public health programmes.
“As a result of our collective efforts, GHMC received several national-level awards and recognitions, which is a matter of pride for all of us. The progress made in delivering faster, transparent and accountable civic services will serve as a strong foundation for future generations,” mayor Vijayalakshmi said.
Deputy mayor Mothe Srilatha Shobhan Reddy urged officers and staff to remain accessible to the public and focus on resolving issues at the grassroots level.
