Hyderabad:The Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) will focus on the newly merged areas while making arrangements for Ganesh Chaturthi, to be celebrated from September 14, and the immersion on September 25.

Arrangements for the Balapur Ganesh procession and immersion are being planned in coordination with the Bhagyanagar Ganesh Utsav Committee, police and other state government departments.

GHMC commissioner R.V. Karnan, who held a meeting on the festival arrangements on Thursday, said, “ A dedicated coordination mechanism will be established to promptly address issues relating to roads, barricading, cranes, electricity, water supply, sanitation and emergency services.”

Ganesh Action Teams (GATs) will be deployed at regular intervals, along with round-the-clock sanitation personnel, mobile toilets, fogging teams, cranes, boats, swimmers, lifesaving equipment, ambulances and paramedical staff.

The control room at the GHMC head office will handle real-time coordination, monitoring and quick response during the festival and immersion period. The existing plan also provides for a control room at Tank Bund and static and mobile cranes at major lakes, tanks and immersion points.

Convergence meetings will be conducted in the newly added circles and zones, focusing on procession routes, immersion points, traffic management, sanitation, lighting, power supply, medical facilities, emergency response and public safety.
