Hyderabad: The Telangana High Court has dismissed a petition challenging the state government's move to reorganise the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC), thereby permitting the increase in civic divisions from 150 to 300.

A division bench considered the petition, in which the petitioner alleged a lack of transparency in the re-division process. Specifically, the petitioner's counsel argued that the foundational report from the Centre for Good Governance had not been released publicly. They also claimed citizens were not given sufficient time to submit objections.

In its defense, the state government maintained that the delimitation notification strictly adhered to the legal framework. Government counsel informed the court that all necessary details had been uploaded to the official website for public review. Authorities further disclosed that approximately 3,100 objections have already been received and are currently under examination and resolution.

Ultimately, the bench concluded that it would not intervene in this administrative policy decision concerning the reconstitution of wards.
