Hyderabad: When the world is adopting artificial intelligence with open arms, how Hyderabad, one of India’s premier technology hubs, could be left behind? GHMC has decided to roll out various AI-powered utility tools such as assisted citizen form filling, and chatbots for grievance redressal.
The country’s largest municipal corporation will also launch WhatsApp-based services for certificates, applications, and service tracking. These steps are expected to improve service delivery and grievance redressal in the city.
Residents will also have a centralised geospatial platform integrated with a QR code-enabled mobile app. It will enable real-time, map-based monitoring of properties, instant QR-based access to verified property data for field officers, and a unified self-service interface for citizens.
The GHMC will implement a comprehensive GIS-based system for supporting urban planning, efficient service delivery, and revenue augmentation.
The civic body has already prepared a high-resolution base map of the city with a spatial resolution of 5 cm — over 650 square kilometres — through drone surveys. “This forms a strong geospatial foundation for accurate decision-making and planning. Plans are underway to extend it to the expanded GHMC area of 2,503 square kilometres,” said a GHMC official.
Based on house-to-house GIS-based surveys, which covered nearly 14 lakh properties in the erstwhile GHMC, the GHMC has already collected granular details like property tax identification number (PTIN), electricity connections, usage type (residential or commercial), and structural details. “We have identified over 1.02 lakh new assessments and 9,154 under-assessed properties in the erstwhile GHMC alone. Action is being initiated on this front,” said a GHMC official.
The GHMC also integrated PTIN records with electricity service connection data from the Telangana Southern Power Distribution Company Limited (TGSPDCL). It will be replicated in the new areas that have been merged with the GHMC last month. “Following this activity, we were able to generate an additional `8 crore in revenue from the erstwhile GHMC alone,” said a GHMC official.
