Garbage Trolleys Face Long Delays At Jiyaguda Transfer Station
Trolley driver K. Balaraju said, “We reach the site by 11 am and have to wait till the evening.
Hyderabad:Swacch auto trolleys filled with trash have been made to wait for long hours at the solid waste transfer station at Jiyaguda over the past month.
Trolley driver K. Balaraju said, “We reach the site by 11 am and have to wait till the evening. We have complained to the officials many times but no action has taken to speed up the process.”
He said that the line of trolleys stretches up to 2 km, sometimes. “Some drivers go to other dumping yards to empty their vehicles, so that they do not have to wait at Jiyaguda,” he added.
The transfer station gets solid waste from Toli Chowki, Karwan, Attapur and Narsingi. “We cannot eat till we we freshen up. We are now getting back to home in the evening,” said driver C. Bukya.
Drivers complained that, when they questioned for the delay, they did not get clear reasons. Some officials say it is because of bad road and others blaming on the equipment failure.
G. Chinna, a driver, said “From past few days, I come early in the morning to unload the garbage and then go back to collect trash from households.”
A transfer station official said the delay was caused by the failure of the trash loading equipment. “Space in the station is less, which causes congestion. The failure has happened three times before, we are planning to fix it by Monday,” he added.
