Ganesh Immersion Arrangements At Tank Bund
Hydraulic cranes have been installed at Tank Bund in Hyderabad to facilitate Ganesh idol immersion, with around 70,000 idols expected this year.
Hydraulic cranes were installed on main Tank Bund stretch on Tuesday morning, for immersion of Lord Ganesh idols. This came following a protest by the Bhagyanagar Ganesh Utsav Samithi (BGUS) on Monday demanding that the Tank Bund be opened for immersions. BGUS general secretary Dr Ravinutala Shashidhar hailed Chief Minister Revanth Reddy for his intervention in the matter and ordering timely arrangements.
Each crane has been allotted a number. Idols reaching Tank Bund were being assigned to the individual cranes for immersion, as was done in previous years. Till Monday, the police had barred the immersion of idols from Tank Bund.
Dr Shashidhar told this newspaper, “We urge all mandap organisers to maintain discipline during the procession.” He also urged them not to play political songs. “We are communicating to all mandap organisers to keep the procession devotional and reflective of Indian culture. Wrong behaviour by some reflects on the whole community,” he said. The BGUS estimated that around 70,000 Ganesh idols would be immersed at Tank Bund this year. The main procession will start from Balapur.
