Ganesh Idol Immersion Continues For Second Day In Nizamabad
Police made security arrangements across Nizamabad district for the immersion: Reports
NIZAMABAD: Ganesh idol immersion continued for the second day in Nizamabad district on Saturday, with a number of large idols taken to Ummeda and Basar on the banks of the Godavari.
Youth took part in the processions and danced as the idols were taken to the river for immersion. Police made security arrangements along the Shobha Yatra routes to Nandipet and Basar from Nizamabad.
Large numbers of people participated in the 11-day celebrations in Nizamabad, Bodhan, Armoor, Bheemgal, Kamareddy, Banswada, Yellareddy and other towns. The idols were transported in tractors and trolleys for immersion.
Organisers of the Shivaputra Ganesh Mandali in Kotagally told Deccan Chronicle that large Ganesh idols were being taken to Ummeda village for immersion. Residents of Kotagally participated in the celebrations in large numbers, they said.
Police made security arrangements across Nizamabad district for the immersion. Drones and CCTV cameras were used for surveillance. Commissioner of police P. Sai Chaitanya visited the Basar immersion point on Saturday and reviewed the situation. Police teams monitored the immersion of Ganesh idols.
In Kamareddy district, Ganesh idols were immersed in Banswada town on Saturday. Superintendent of police M. Sharath Chandra visited Banswada and directed police officials to ensure a safe immersion process.
In Siddipet district, two youths, identified as Naveen and Ramesh, were reported missing after they allegedly drowned in Pedda Cheruvu at Rudram village during Ganesh idol immersion on Saturday. Villagers were searching the waters.
