Galwan Martyr Santhosh Babu’s Mother Defeated In Municipal Election

NALGONDA: Bikumalla Manjula, mother of Colonel Bikumalla Santosh Babu who was killed in a clash with Chinese troops, was defeated in the municipal elections after contesting from Ward No. 44 of Suryapet municipality.
Manjula polled 398 votes, while Congress candidate Gunaganti Hema secured 743 votes. A total of five candidates were in the fray, with Manjula finishing second.
She entered electoral politics for the first time at the request of former minister and Suryapet MLA G. Jagadish Reddy. It was the first time that she or any member of her family had contested an election. During the campaign, she highlighted the achievements of the previous BRS government and referred to the support extended to her family after her son’s death. However, she was defeated amid the Congress’ strong performance in the municipal elections.
