Gaganpahad Underpass Turns Flood-Prone
They added that while civic works such as painting were carried out as part of city beautification, repair of the damaged structure was not addressed.
Hyderabad: Residents of Gaganpahad have raised concerns over flooding and structural damage at the local railway underpass, stating that it poses a risk during the monsoon.
They said the retaining wall at the underpass has been breached, leading to heavy inflow of water during rains. Despite repeated representations to authorities, no action has been taken, residents alleged. They added that while civic works such as painting were carried out as part of city beautification, repair of the damaged structure was not addressed.
Anjaiah, a resident, said, “The underpass separates a portion of the lake from the industrial area. Although HYDRAA has removed most encroachments from the lake land, heavy rainwater continues to gush through a breach in the retaining wall because there is no proper outlet or drainage system on the other side”
Residents said the underpass gets flooded with knee-deep water during rains, affecting movement in an area used by a large number of people. They urged authorities to undertake necessary repairs and provide proper drainage to prevent further damage and disruption.
