Friday Prayers with Black Armband: Asaduddin Owaisi
Owaisi said, "We should never allow such elements to take shelter under Islam to carry out attacks on innocents. We never allow foreign nationals to take the lives of our country’s innocent citizens and this message must go out."
Hyderabad: AIMIM chief and Hyderabad MP Asaduddin Owaisi has appealed to Muslims to take part in Friday prayers with a black armband to register their strong protest against the horrific attack by Lashkar-e-Taiba terrorists on innocent tourists in Pahalgam which claimed 28 lives.
Owaisi said, "We should never allow such elements to take shelter under Islam to carry out attacks on innocents. We never allow foreign nationals to take the lives of our country’s innocent citizens and this message must go out."
Owaisi termed the move to exclude him from the all-party convened on Thursday by the Centre on the Pahalgam incident as “undemocratic”.
Participation in the meeting was limited to parties with a minimum of five Members of Parliament in either the Lok Sabha or the Rajya Sabha.
"Regarding the Pahalgam All Party Meeting, I spoke to (Union minister) Kiren Rijiju last night. He said they're thinking of inviting only parties with five or 10 MPs. When I asked why not parties with fewer MPs, he said that the meeting would get too long. When I asked, 'What about us, the smaller parties?' He joked that my voice is anyway too loud." Owaisi said in a social media post.
