Free Power Provided to 51,207 Ganesh Pandals Worth Rs 17.80 Cr.

Hyderabad:The southern discom ensured uninterrupted and safe power supply during this year’s Ganesh Chaturthi festivities, supporting 51,207 Ganesh idols and pandals with free electricity worth approximately `17.80 crore.

Despite surge in power demand, the Telangana Southern Power Distribution Company Limited (TGSPDCL) claimed that it ensured uninterrupted power supply and ensured smooth immersion processions across its 21 circles. It made special arrangements, 24×7, monitoring of power feeders, transformers, procession routes, and immersion points.

During 2026–27, a total connected load of 1,12,586 kW was sanctioned for Ganesh pandals, marking an increase from 98,627 kW and 47,649 pandals in the previous year. Within GHMC, Malkajgiri, and Cyberabad limits alone, 20,128 pandals were installed with a sanctioned load of 60,217 kW, accounting for `9.04 crore of the total expenditure.

Staff remained on field duty from September 14 until the final immersion, with special monitoring at key sites such as Hussain Sagar, Tank Bund, NTR Marg, IDL Lake, Saroornagar, Uppal, Durgam Cheruvu, Medchal, and Rajendranagar.

TGSPDCL chairman and managing Jitesh V. Patil praised the dedication of directors, engineers, control room personnel, and field staff, stating that the government’s support for free power reflected its commitment to the people’s cultural and spiritual traditions.
