Free Hyderabad Exposure Tour for Adivasis: Jupally
He enquired about the challenges faced by Adivasi youth in remote villages.
Adilabad: Tourism and culture minister Jupally Krishna Rao on Saturday announced that his department would organise a free Metropolitan Exposure Tour to Hyderabad for Adivasis living in interior and isolated villages. He said Adivasi youth must be exposed to urban life and the development taking place in Hyderabad, and added that the Adivasis would be taken to the city by buses at no cost.
Addressing a gathering at Kummarikunta village in Utnoor mandal, the minister said the initiative was aimed at bridging the gap between indigenous communities and the modern world. He announced that a free exposure tour would be arranged specifically for the Adivasis of Kummarikunta village and that he would also interact with Adivasis from nearby gudems. He enquired about the challenges faced by Adivasi youth in remote villages.
Observing that Adivasis are considered the sons of the soil, the Minister said many of them were unaware of developments in the outside world. He remarked that the region was often referred to as “Mini Kashmir” for its natural beauty, but stressed the need for its youth to experience urban progress.
Krishna Rao said the tourism and culture department would bear the entire cost of the tour and treat the Adivasis as special tourists. He said Hyderabad would serve as a primary tourism destination for them, offering exposure to its historical heritage, modern skyscrapers and the Metro Rail system.
To inspire Adivasi youth, the department would also arrange visits to professional sports facilities for games such as cricket, volleyball and badminton. He said Adivasi communities should not remain confined to forests alone but must see the wider world and use that knowledge for their own upliftment.
Stressing the importance of education, the minister said self-reliance through education was the true tribute to tribal icons like Komaram Bheem and Ramji Gond. He said education was key to ending exploitation and empowering tribal communities.
The minister later distributed blankets to Adivasis and reaffirmed that the State’s cultural exchange policy, implemented through the tourism and culture department, would ensure the preservation of tribal heritage while providing equal access to development.
Khanapur MLA Vedma Bojju, AICC secretary Vishwanath, former MP Soyam Bapurao, police superintendent Akhil Mahajan, Adilabad DCC president Naresh Jadhav and TPCC Linguistics Department chairman Rakesh Guptha also donated blankets to Adivasis on the occasion. The event was organised by the Adilabad police.
