Formula E Case: ACB Moves Court To Impound Passports Of KTR, 3 Others
The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) has approached the court seeking to impound the passports of BRS working president K.T. Rama Rao and three other accused in the Formula E race case.
Hyderabad: The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) has approached the court seeking to impound the passports of BRS working president K.T. Rama Rao (KTR) and three other accused in the Formula E race case.
The move comes as proceedings continue in the case relating to alleged irregularities in the transfer of about Rs 55 crore from the Hyderabad Metropolitan Development Authority (HMDA) in connection with the Formula E event.
As part of the investigation, officials registered a case in December 2024 against the then Municipal Administration Minister KTR, along with the then Special Chief Secretary of the department, Arvind Kumar; then HMDA Chief Engineer, BLN Reddy; sports consultant Kiran Malleshwar Rao; and Formula E Operations (FEO) representative Alberto Longo. Officials have questioned all the accused, recorded their statements, and filed charge sheets, and the trial is ongoing in court.
Now, the ACB has approached the court seeking to impound the passports of four of the five accused. Since the fifth accused is a foreign national, the local authorities have no power to seize his passport.
