Hyderabad: The Jubilee Hills police have booked former IPS officer A.K. Khan’s son Mohsin Khan for alleged cheating based on a complaint filed by filmmaker Venkata Anish Reddy, The complaintant alleged that Mohsin Khan and his cousin Tabrez cheated him of Rs 50 lakh.

The complainant stated he had been working on a movie project `Maharagni’ for two years, and was in search of investors when he came in contact with Mohsin Khan and Tabrez. In August last year, he gave Mohsin Khan Rs 25 lakh on a promise to introduce him to investors, the complainant stated. He separately gave Rs 35 lakh to Tabrez in instalments for his personal use.

Anish Reddy alleged that neither of them introduced him to investors. He met the duo on Wednesday and demanded his money back, whereupon he was allegedly assaulted. Mohsin is also the son-in-law of Congress leader Shabbir Ali.

Police have booked a case against Mohsin under the BNS and would seek a legal opinion before issuing notices, a police official confirmed.

Later at night, Mohsin Khan issued a statement denying the allegations. He alleged that a former business associate, whom he identified as ‘Rao’, had defaulted on payments due to him. “On June 27. I issued a legal notice to Rao to apply pressure. Rao seems to have conspired with his friend Anish Reddy to file this false complaint,” Mohsin Khan alleged.
