Flood Inflow Swells Srisailam Reservoir to Near Capacity; Six Gates Opened

Authorities open six spillway gates by 10 feet. Water is now being released downstream toward Nagarjuna Sagar.

The reservoir is currently receiving a combined inflow of 2,29,743 cusecs from the Jurala and Sunkesula projects.

Srisailam: A significant flood inflow from upper catchment areas has pushed the Srisailam reservoir close to its full capacity, prompting authorities to open six spillway gates by 10 feet. Water is now being released downstream toward Nagarjuna Sagar.

The reservoir is currently receiving a combined inflow of 2,29,743 cusecs from the Jurala and Sunkesula projects. The total outflow stands at 2,48,900 cusecs, distributed across multiple channels:
1,62,942 cusecs through six spillway gates
20,000 cusecs via the Pothireddypadu Head Regulator
35,315 cusecs from the Left Bank Power Station
30,643 cusecs from the Right Bank Power Station
As of now, the reservoir's water level has reached 883 feet, just shy of the full level of 885 feet. Its current storage is 204.78 TMC, nearing the maximum capacity of 215.80 TMC.
