Flood Fury Continues In Godavari, Manjeera Rivers

NIZAMABAD: Heavy water flow continued in the river Godavari and its tributaries Manjeera and Haridra on Sunday. Inflows from upstream areas reached the Sriramsagar and Nizamsagar projects. Irrigation officials, closely monitoring the flood situation, are releasing water to downstream areas.
At the Sriramsagar project, the water level stood at 1,088.3 feet on Sunday night at 9 p.m. with a storage of 70.71 tmc. Inflows of around 3.25 lakh cusecs were recorded, while 2.78 lakh cusecs were discharged. By opening 39 spillway gates, officials released 2,51,453 cusecs into the downstream of the river Godavari. Additionally, 18,000 cusecs were diverted into the Indiramma flood flow canal, 4,500 cusecs into the Kakatiya main canal, and 3,500 cusecs through the escape gates.
At the Nizamsagar project, the water level reached 1,402.75 feet against its full reservoir level of 1,405.00 feet. Of the gross storage capacity of 17.802 tmc, the project held 14.654 tmc on Sunday night. Inflows of 77,250 cusecs were recorded, while 1,15,633 cusecs were released through 14 flood gates into the Manjeera river.
