First Flood Warning Lifted At Kaleshwaram

WARANGAL: The flood flow of the Godavari River has begun to recede after a week of heavy rainfall in the upper catchment areas. With water levels dropping, officials lifted the first flood warning at Kaleshwaram in Mahadevpur mandal of Jayashankar Bhupalpally district.
On Thursday, the water level at the main Pushkar Ghat was recorded at 11.68 metres, and authorities expect the flow to decline further by night. Meanwhile, officials are regulating heavy inflows by operating the gates of the major barrages on the Godavari.
At the Medigadda barrage in Jayashankar Bhupalpally district, an inflow of 9,89,620 cusecs is being managed, with an equal volume released downstream through all 85 gates. Similarly, at Sammakka Sagar barrage in Tupakulagudem village of Eturnagaram mandal, Mulugu district, all 59 gates have been opened, releasing 10,24,070 cusecs downstream.
Currently, the Godavari water level at Ramannagudem stands at 74.88 metres, surpassing the second flood warning mark of 74.33 metres.
