Fire at MGBS Metro Station Sparks Alarm
Blaze from dry grass near the Musi River quickly contained; no injuries reported
Hyderabad: A fire broke out near the Mahatma Gandhi Bus Station (MGBS) Metro Station in Hyderabad on Wednesday night, sending plumes of smoke into the sky and alarming commuters and residents. The blaze began in dry vegetation along the Musi riverbed. Fire officials attributed the cause to human negligence, likely a discarded cigarette that ignited the parched grass and brush.
A fire tender from a nearby station was promptly dispatched. Firefighters extinguished the blaze within 30 minutes and prevented it from spreading to Metro and bus stations. A nearby vendor who witnessed the scene told Deccan Chronicle, “Although this fire did not cause any casualties, it could have turned into a major disaster if it had reached the MGBS Metro premises.” No casualties or injuries were reported.
