Kothaguda (Komaram Bheem Asifabad): A mass housewarming ceremony for Indiramma houses was held on Monday at Kothaguda, a tribal hamlet in Kolam Kotari gram panchayat of Kerameri mandal in Komaram Bheem Asifabad district, marking completion of the first phase of the housing scheme for Particularly Vulnerable Tribal Group (PVTG) beneficiaries.

Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy attended the programme, where 25 houses constructed under the Indiramma housing scheme were inaugurated.

The beneficiaries, belonging to the Kolam community, decorated their new houses with coconut leaves (Kobbari Mattalu) at the entrance as part of the celebrations. Residents said owning a permanent house had brought a sense of security and hope for a better future.

Atram Bheem Bhai and Atram Raju, a beneficiary couple, said they had completed construction of their house with ₹5 lakh assistance under the scheme. “Now they live a confident life (Befikar Ayindi) after worrying all these years about not having a house to being the owner of the Indiramma house,” they said.

The couple, who work as daily wage agricultural labourers and have two children, said their long-standing problem of not having a house had been resolved.

Another resident, Madavi Paggu, who did not receive a house in the first phase, said he was hopeful of being covered in the next phase. He said officials had assured that his family members would be considered in the upcoming phase.

He said owning a pucca house was essential for dignity and daily living, and thanked the Chief Minister for extending the scheme to Kolam families and attending the ceremony in their village.
