Festival Traffic Slows NH-65 on Sunday Too
Traffic movement was also affected between Choutuppal and Peddakaparthy on NH 65 due to the surge in vehicles.
Nalgonda: The Sankranti festival rush on National Highway No. 65 continued on Sunday as well, slowing traffic movement throughout the day. Panthangi toll plaza once again witnessed heavy vehicular congestion during the early hours of Sunday. In addition to automatic FASTag scanners, four staff members equipped with hand-held FASTag devices were deployed to speed up toll collection. Of the 16 toll gates at Panthangi, 12 were earmarked for vehicles travelling from Hyderabad towards Vijayawada to ease congestion.
Traffic movement was also affected between Choutuppal and Peddakaparthy on NH 65 due to the surge in vehicles. Bumper-to-bumper traffic was reported at Choutuppal, Chityal and Peddakaparthy, where flyover construction works are underway. A large number of police personnel were deployed at these choke points to regulate traffic.
Vehicles were also queued up at the Korlapahad toll plaza during the morning hours. However, traffic flow eased after 10 am compared to the early morning rush.
Vehicular movement increased on the Bhongir-Chityal route as motorists heading towards Vijayawada from Hyderabad took alternative routes on police advice.
