Hyderabad: The agriculture department continued with its experimental roll-out of the ‘Fertilizer Booking App’, extending the service to five districts on Monday. Though it was hoped that the app could be rolled out statewide, the department decided to take it one step at a time to evaluate its performance and attend to any possible glitches.
The app, introduced in Peddapalli district last Thursday, was extended to Adilabad, Nalgonda, Jangaon, and Mahbubnagar districts on Monday.
“So far the system is working well. Today, 7,000 farmers used the app to book 21,000 bags of urea. Of these, farmers picked up 10,000 bags. The farmers have 24 hours after the booking, they can purchase their orders before this period is over (on Tuesday),” said Dr B. Gopi, agriculture commissioner.
The department, he said, was evaluating and analysing the app usage so far, and that some small technical glitches have been attended to. “Tomorrow too we will observe how the app is behaving and later extend it for statewide use,” he added.
