Farmers to Get Fair Price With New Procurement Centres: Chief Whip
The government inaugurates new centres, offers incentives, and ensures fair prices for farmers under new agricultural support initiatives.
Karimnagar: In an effort to secure fair compensation for farmers, the government has inaugurated new procurement centres across the district, as announced by Government Chief Whip and Vemulawada MLA Aadi Srinivas during the opening ceremonies at Bal Nagar, Chekkapalli, and Mallaram in Rajanna Sircilla district on Wednesday.
Speaking at the event, Aadi Srinivas reaffirmed the government's commitment to purchasing crops at the prescribed support prices. "We are here to ensure that every farmer receives a fair price for their produce," he stated.
A total of 248 procurement centres are slated for establishment across the district, with 35 centres already operational. Srinivas added that additional centres would be launched if necessary to address any challenges the farmers might face.
Highlighting Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy’s vision of empowerment, the MLA noted that 50 per cent of the centres have been allocated to women farmers.
In support of farmers cultivating short-duration crops, an extra incentive of Rs 500 per quintal is being offered for rice varieties with shorter harvest cycles. Further, the state government has approved loan waivers totaling Rs 21,000 crore, and subsidised rice distribution has been announced to benefit the economically vulnerable.
Officials managing the procurement centres, including the collector and other government staff, have ensured that the necessary arrangements are in place to facilitate smooth operations. Arrangements include tarpaulin covers and jute bags, aimed at preventing any inconvenience to the farmers during the collection process.
The Government Chief Whip also directed the management teams to eliminate any obstacles for the farmers, emphasizing that every grain harvested would be purchased without complications. He further highlighted the ongoing initiatives by Chief Minister Revanth Reddy to provide quality electricity, fertilizers, and modern farming equipment to bolster the welfare of farmers.
