Adilabad: Farmers are up in arms against the state government for freezing the Rs 17.59 crore released as compensation towards input subsidy for crops damaged in villages along the Penganga River due to floods from August to September 2025.

The funds were sanctioned from the State Disaster Response Fund (SDRF). In‑charge minister Jupally Krishna Rao, during a visit to flood‑affected villages, had promised Rs 10,000 per acre for damaged crops in 20,000 acres, but farmers said they have not received the amount till now.

The farmers have been agitating, demanding that the government lift the freeze and credit the amounts to their bank accounts. They also sought a fresh survey to assess crop damage this season and compensation for losses.

Adilabad BJP MLA Payal Shankar recently took affected farmers to Hyderabad to mount pressure on the government and met agriculture minister Tummala Nageswara Rao, requesting that the freeze on compensation funds be lifted. Senior BJP leader C. Suhasini Reddy organised meetings with farmers in Jainad, Bela and Adilabad mandals who did not receive compensation, and later led a rally in Adilabad town before submitting a memorandum to district officials.

Farmers said they have been making rounds to the agriculture office and collectorate for over a year but have not received compensation due to the freeze.

Sangepu Borranna of Rytu Swarajya Vedika said standing crops of cotton and soya were inundated in Jainad, Bela and Adilabad mandals last year, affecting 20,000 acres. He added that farmers also suffered crop damage this Kharif season following floods in the same mandals.
