Family Members in Jagtial Offer Prayers for Safe Return of 3 Women Missing in Flood Water
The district administration is facing problems in effectively continuing the operation to trace the missing persons.
Hyderabad: The family members of three women from Jagtial in Telangana, who went missing after the car in which they were travelling were washed away in the flood water between Udgir and Deglur Road in Maharashtra’s Mukramabad on Sunday night, are praying for their safe return.
From Sunday midnight, the district administration and Maharashtra police continued to search for the missing women along with the car and its driver. But they could trace them leaving the family members in panic situation.
The three women - Shaik Afreen (30), Sameena (50), Haseena (28), all residents of TR Nagar in Jagtial district, went to Udgir to attend the marriage at their relative’s house on Sunday morning. On the return journey, they hired a car to reach home. One more person boarded the car midway.
A few minutes after reaching Deglur Road from Udgir, the car got stuck in the floodwater on a bridge around 12.30 am. The car driver tried to move ahead, but in vain due to heavy flood water. Even before the three women tried to escape from it, the car swept away from the bridge.
However, one person travelling the car managed to escape and swim to safety. On receiving information, the family members rushed to the spot. Speaking to Deccan Chronicle, Haseena’s husband Abdul Pasha, a hamili, said that his wife, sister Afreen and another relative Sameena left home early Sunday to attend the marriage.
They then hired the car to return home. After reaching the bridge at Deglur Road, the car washed away in the flood water, Pasha said, adding that the family members were praying for the safe return of Haseena, Afreen and Sameena.
Owing to heavy rain coupled with rising flood water, the district administration is facing problems in effectively continuing the operation to trace the missing persons.
