Expedite House Site Allocation to SCs, STs, Bhatti Tells Officials
Bhatti Vikramarka directs officials to expedite approvals and review gaps in welfare schemes, basic amenities and tribal healthcare.
Hyderabad: Deputy Chief Minister Bhatti Vikramarka on Thursday directed officials to examine the possibility of using about 1,300 acres of vacant government land identified across Telangana to provide house sites to eligible families from the SC and ST communities. The proposal was discussed during a review of SC/ST Sub-Plan expenditure, which also examined gaps in agricultural welfare schemes, basic amenities in habitations of the SC and ST community and access to healthcare in tribal areas.
The land was identified based on reports submitted by district collectors. Bhatti asked officials to expedite the necessary approvals for allotting suitable sites and examine proposals for acquiring additional land wherever required.
Social welfare minister Adluri Laxman Kumar, who participated in the meeting said funds earmarked for the SC and ST community must not be diverted for other purposes under any circumstances. Departments were asked to regularly monitor expenditure, beneficiary coverage and the progress of works.
Bhatti sought detailed records of farmers belonging to the SC and ST communities receiving assistance under Rythu Bharosa, subsidised seed distribution and agricultural mechanisation schemes. He asked officials to examine whether land ownership conditions were restricting benefits and propose separate provisions where existing rules prevented eligible farmers from receiving assistance.
Beneficiary details, including names, villages, social categories and assistance received, must be verified at the field level and maintained digitally. Laxman Kumar also sought improvements to electricity supply in underserved habitations, including the installation of poles, wiring and extension of power lines.
Bhatti asked departments to identify requirements for community halls, burial grounds and cremation facilities in every Assembly constituency. The meeting also discussed the possibility of introducing mobile medical units in tribal areas and improving access to doctors, medicines and emergency care.
