Warangal: Srikkopally Gopal, a 77-year-old retired government officer from Warangal, has captured national attention with his extraordinary acts of patriotism and devotion. The retired officer, who left government service in 2006, has taken on ambitious literary and spiritual projects by hand-transcribing both the Indian Constitution and the Bible onto metal sheets.

Gopal meticulously transcribed the entire Indian Constitution in English on 260 copper sheets, a tribute to the Father of the Indian Constitution, Dr B.R. Ambedkar. Reflecting on his achievement in an interview with Deccan Chronicle, he stated, “As a proud Indian and a follower of Dr Ambedkar’s philosophy, I feel immense pride in preserving the spirit of the Constitution.” He noted that the entire work, completed in 221 days, was his contribution to the nation during the 75th anniversary celebrations of the Constitution in 2024.
In addition to this monumental act of patriotism, Gopal has also devoted himself to spiritual endeavors. Motivated by deep faith and discipline, he has handwritten the Holy Bible on two separate occasions — first in 2013 on 950 bond papers, and again in 2019 on brass metal sheets. Each version spans 1,050 pages in a large 18×12 inch format. “Writing the Bible on brass in Telugu took me two years and 27 days, while the version on bond paper took 19 months. It is a gift from God, and I am honoured to carry forward this monumental work,” he said.
Gopal’s self-funded projects, for which he personally bore costs exceeding Rs 1 lakh, have earned him accolades including recognitions in the India Book of Records and the Wonder Book of Records. In 2019, he was further felicitated by the then-Governor of Telangana for his outstanding contributions.
