Hyderabad:Cyberabad Police and the Telangana Anti-Narcotics Bureau (TGANB) have jointly arrested a former BITS Pilani student in connection with the Kompally drug bust.

The primary suspect, identified as Harsha, a former BITS Pilani intern, allegedly became addicted to narcotics during an internship in Goa and subsequently sourced drugs from Delhi, Mumbai, Goa and other locations to supply a Hyderabad-based network. Two additional suspects have also been detained, confirmed a senior TGANB official, who declined to provide further details.

Earlier this week, Cyberabad’s Narcotics Unit arrested 34-year-old A. Surya, owner of Malnadu Restaurant in Kompally. Acting on a decoy operation, officers intercepted Surya’s vehicle and seized a high-end SUV along with quantities of OG weed, cocaine and ecstasy. Drugs were discovered hidden in his dashboard and in the heels of women’s sandals stored in a parcel box.

During interrogation, Surya admitted to regular drug use and implicated several high-profile professionals as fellow consumers, including pub owners, a cardiologist from a Gachibowli private hospital, and businessmen and IT employees from Hyderabad, Vijayawada and Bengaluru.

Investigators say Surya obtained narcotics through contacts such as Harsha, Karimnagar-based Sandeep Juvvadi, and Nigerian traffickers operating out of Delhi and Bengaluru. Shipments were often concealed in footwear or other courier parcels, with payments made via bank transfers to supplier-linked accounts.

The case has been registered under relevant sections of the NDPS Act, and authorities are continuing to probe the network to identify additional suspects.
