Bhargav Deshpande— DC File

ADILABAD: Former Adilabad DCC president Bhargav Deshpande on Sunday joined the BRS in the presence of party working president K.T. Rama Rao at the latter’s house in Hyderabad on Sunday.

KTR welcomed Deshpande into the party by putting a pink Kanduva over him. The BRS leader underlined that Deshpande’s entry into BRS will strengthen the party in Adilabad district.

Those present on the occasion included BRS MLAs Kova Laxmi, Anil Jadhav, former ministers Jogu Ramanna and Vemula Prashanth Reddy, former MLA Balka Suman, MLC Pochampalli Srinivas Reddy, and Khanapur assembly party in-charge Johnson Naik.

Addressing media later in Adilabad, Bhargav Deshpande accused the ruling Congress of adopting anti-people policies and failing to develop Telangana during the last two and a half years of its rule in the state.

Deshpande regretted that the Congress high command, including Leader of the Opposition in Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi, seem to be unaware of what is happening in Telangana.

The now BRS leader alleged that Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy is giving top priority to BJP MLAs, including Adilabad MLA Payal Shankar, asking whether the latter has become a Congress member.

Bhargav Deshpande said BRS leaders will try hard to reduce the influence of BJP in the northern districts of Telangana. He went on to make it clear that he will work under the leadership of former minister Jogu Ramanna.

Ramanna pointed out that BRS is organising the Rythu Garjana Sabha in Adilabad town on November 1. He appealed to farmers to participate in the event in large numbers.

In the interim, in a statement, Adilabad DCC president Naresh Jadhav strongly condemned Deshpande's remarks against Chief Minister Revanth Reddy and Congress party. Jadhav pointed out that Deshpande had been suspended from Congress as he failed to ensure that the government’s welfare programmes reached the people in Adilabad district.
